Pakistan India Joint Business Forum

The Ministers of Commerce of India and Pakistan setup the Pakistan India Joint Business Forum (PIJBF) in 2012 comprising of 15 leading businesspersons from both countries. The objective behind the formation of this Joint Business Forum was to allow business representatives from both countries to debate critical issues and make recommendations to their respective governments on policy matters to facilitate trade normalization.

The Forum works through sector taskforces and is currently focusing on issues related to trade in Agriculture, Auto & Engineering, Banking, Textiles, Pharmaceuticals and Energy. In addition, it is also working on developing an enabling environment for the SME sector and facilitating exchanges and cooperation in the field of technical & vocational education. Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman Hero Motors, is leading the high-powered Indian delegation, while Syed Yawar Ali Chairman of Nestle Pakistan is leading the Pakistan side. Other key members of the Joint Business Forum from the Pakistan side include Bashir Ali Mohammad, Chairman Gul Ahmed, former Federal Minister Abdul Razak Dawood, Chairman of Millat Tractors Sikander Mustafa Khan, President HBL Noman Dar, Muhammad Ali Tabba, CEO Lucky Cement & Director Gatron Industries Shabbir Diwan. The Pakistan Business Council (PBC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are the secretariats’ for the PIJBF in their respective countries.

The 4th meeting was recently held in India discussing in length issues relating to agriculture and agro-items, auto and building, materials and material made-ups, pharmaceuticals, enhancing network particularly Wagah, professional preparing & ability improvement, saving money and fiscal administrations, SMEs, vitality, among others, to give centered suggestions to enhance respective participation.
